Women behind the wheel: how ZAMMLER helps them master new professions

The Ukrainian road transport market is changing rapidly. The shortage of personnel, exacerbated by the war, has accelerated the involvement of women in ‘male’ professions — truck drivers, forklift operators, and freight forwarders. The ZAMMLER group of logistics companies actively supports this trend by helping women learn new professions and realise their dreams.
Our first female driver, Natalia Kolisnichenko, dreamed of getting behind the wheel of a truck and made her dream come true last summer. Thanks to a retraining programme and her own determination, she now drives a 3.5-tonne truck in Kyiv. Shortly afterwards, a colleague, Olena Richko, joined the team. Like Natalia, she completed the training and now confidently drives a truck.

“The most important and most difficult thing is to take the first step. And once you start walking, the road appears by itself. And so, little by little, step by step. And somewhere along the way, you realise that it’s not that difficult. The main thing is desire,” says Ms. Olena.

The company has also launched a programme to train women as forklift drivers, who are critically important specialists in warehouses. Among the first participants is Viktoria Synitsyna, who works as a storekeeper and also has experience driving a truck.

‘We understand that due to mobilisation, more and more men are needed at the front. Our goal is to train, pass on experience and prepare worthy replacements. This will help preserve the team, increase efficiency and prove that there is a place for everyone in logistics, regardless of gender,’ emphasises Lyudmila Sizoneko, HR Director of the ZAMMLER group of companies.

ZAMMLER GROUP supports equal opportunities, creates conditions for development, and helps to overcome stereotypes. Read more about the work of our female drivers and their path to their dreams in the article on the WoMo website.
