ZAMMLER at a business breakfast with the Ombudsman

Oleksandr Kyryliuk, Head of ZAMMLER International Transport Department, took part in a business breakfast with newly appointed Business Ombudsman Roman Vashchuk. The meeting took place at the Foreign Trade Bureau of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.

In addition to business representatives, the Head of the Economic Department of the Embassy of Poland was present as well.

One of the topics for discussion that currently worries carriers and other players in the logistics market was the lack of Polish permits for cargo transportation.

Oleksandr Kyryliuk stressed the need to resolve the problem without delay. Ukraine needs more than 200,000 permits, but instead receives 160,000, which is not enough. In the autumn the quota will be exhausted and Ukrainian manufacturers will not be able to export goods to the EU again.

In turn, the Polish side stressed the importance of resolving another transport issue – Marcin Wnuk, the Head of the Economic Department of the Polish embassy, is concerned that Ukraine has been blocking the transit of goods trains from China to Poland since December. According to the Polish press, the Ukrainians are trying to get more permits by this mean.

ZAMMLER is grateful to the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce for the organising and inviting us, and to all participants for their openness and willingness to engage in dialogue.

After the meeting we eventually got the good news. Ukraine and Poland have agreed to lift restrictions on the transit of freight cars by rail as soon as possible and to significantly increase permits for road carriers. A special commission will now meet to decide on the number of permits.

We will keep monitoring the situation.
